Sex-Linked Inheritance
Meta
-
Most sex-linked conditions are on x chromosomes.
- With X-linked, they have two xs, so they can either pass one on, or not.
- With Y-linked, they can only pass the Y to a boy. So that mutated Y chromosome will pass down to every boy.
-
Males aren't carriers with x-linked, because they either have the allele in the chromosome, or not.
-
Females can be carriers, because they have an extra x chromosome for that allele.
