Common Law Systems

• Laywers are intermediaries. Not interests.
  • Ex: Plaintiff has interest in defendant being guilty, defendant doesn't want to pay, judge has to adjudicate.
  • Not mission towards truth, mission towards client.
  • That's why in french they're called 'avocats'.
  • Legal representatives of claimants.
• Evidence is selective by design.
• Judge has to look at two one-sided stories.
