Anomie Theory

• Explains high crime rates by says that United States' culture makes economic success the goal, but unequally provides ways to achieve it^[Critical Social Justice]. This means that people feel more free to achieve that success through crime.
• Happens when there's a break down between desires of the individual vs ability of Society to provide that.
  • Feelings of Alienation
  • Might need alternative behaviours to meet that desire.
  • Feel like you might need to get your bands in another way. Like crime.
